Whether you’re passing through or are a long time local, the markets in our region are not to be missed. Every weekend you’ll have a number of market options to suit your needs and desires. From fresh produce to hand made goods, Cairns is a vibrant hub of farmers and creators who bring their products to the public each week. We’ve selected six of our favourite markets that are always worth a visit!
Palm Cove
When: Every Friday 5pm – 9pm
Where: By the jetty, Palm Cove
What you’ll find: local and artisan products, stunning sunsets and free activities for the kids
Take note: Friday nights in Palm Cove can get busy, so make sure to head down earlier to secure a park!
Cairns Esplanade Markets
When: Every Saturday 8am – 4pm
Where: Cairns Esplanade (opposite McDonalds)
What you’ll find: local and artisan products, photography, food stalls, beauty and massage sectors
Take note: The Cairns CBD is bustling on the weekends, so it may take some time to find a park – but it’s definitely worth the wait!
Rusty’s Markets
When: Every Friday – Sunday
Friday — 5am to 6pm
Saturday — 5am to 6pm
Sunday — 5am to 3pm
Where: 57-89 Grafton St, Cairns City
What you’ll find: fresh and local produce, plants, handmade goods, food stalls
Take note: Rusty’s is extremely popular, so parking can get a little crazy in the early hours. The majority of the stalls are also cash only, but there is an ATM nearby if you get stuck.
Cairns Night Markets
When: Open daily from 5pm-11pm
Where: 71-75 The Esplanade, Cairns
What you’ll find: food court, local and artisan products, massage and beauty sectors, restaurants nearby
Take note: A majority of the stalls are cash only – ATMs are located in the food court
Cairns Cruise Liner Markets
When: Relevant cruise dates, 10am-5pm
February – 6, 7, 8, 16, 18, 20, 23, 26 and 28
Where: Corner Wharf and Lake Streets, Cairns City QLD 4870
What you’ll find: local craft products and tourism items
Take note: These markets are on at different times each month. Make sure to keep up with the month’s dates here
Tanks Markets
When: Last Sunday of the month 9am – 2pm (Apr – Nov)
Where: Collins Ave, Edge Hill, Cairns
What you’ll find: arts and crafts, local coffee and treats, health products and vintage clothing
Take note: The Tanks markets are only monthly and have a local following. This means that parking can get a little hectic, but don’t stress, you’ll nab one!
